The author considers the possibility of creating a unified methodological approach to assessing the level of social development of Russian regions. An algorithm for its implementation is proposed. All stages of the described sequence of actions are analyzed in detail. The disadvantages of the algorithm based on the use of expert opinions are noted. An example of the implementation of a unified methodological approach in relation to the regions of the Central Federal District is given. Integral intermediate indicators for the selected components of the social sphere of the regions are obtained. A numerical assessment of the level of regional social development has been carried out. Conclusions are drawn regarding the application of the obtained research results.
