In this work, the task is set to evaluate the level of socio-economic development of the regions of the Central Chernozem economic area in the 2019-2021 period. It is noted that the number of publications weighting the impact of the epidemic of the new coronavirus infection COVID-19 on the economy of the regions significantly exceeds the number of scientific articles weighting its impact on the social sphere. The methods of determining the level of socio-economic development of regions are analyzed. The conclusion has been made about the expediency of determining the level of socio-economic development of the regions of the Russian Federation based on the calculation of the integral indicator. A formula for calculating the integral indicator is proposed and its components are considered. Numerical values of partial indicators of socio-economic development are determined for the regions of the Central Chernozem economic area. Integral indicators of the level of social and economic development are calculated in three time periods: 2019-2020, 2020-2021 and 2019-2021.
