Psychological aspects of leadership and the influence of mass consciousness on the attitude to female leaders
Abstract and keywords
Abstract:
The authors deal with the methodological aspect of the problem of female leadership. It is shown that female leadership has its own psychological specificity that distinguishes it from male leadership. The main difference is the attitude towards women’s leadership and female leaders, which has been formed in society under the influence of negative stereotypes and prejudices that have a strong influence, including those on the subconscious level. It was shown that the personality and activities of women leaders at the level of the ordinary consciousness in most cases are evaluated more strictly and at times partially biased. The authors analyze the psychological origins of negative stereotypes and prejudices in relation to women leaders: many religious and philosophical teachings, folklore, and winged statements of prominent personalities. Ways of constructive psychological study of women’s leadership and women leaders themselves are substantiated.
