Transforming traditional values: The quality of education in the conditions of modern challenges

Abstract:
The authors considered the theories of values by domestic and foreign scientists, in the relationship of values and culture of society, and on the basis of Schwartz’s model of values conducted a sociological study of the value system of students and teachers of higher education. The study revealed trends in the transformation of values and expectations of young people. A comparative analysis of teachers’ and students’ social and individual values revealed overlap on the basic values of kindness and safety and significant differences on values such as power, hedonism, and stimulation. The influence of values on the quality of education has been justified.
